A second Certificate issued 15 May 1981 contained identical details.].

He was telling me he was barefooted whole summer chasing cows home often toes bleeding on stony pastures...don't remember if he say anything about the places he stayed in Ont...was a man very independent, smart and very proud. He didn't like to talk about his past...Mr. Salamon told me he [Condon] was an orphan and had nobody...he learned his trade in Ontario and through a priest he found the job in Lebret...".

Statistics Canada, Ottawa, Ontario, 1940 National Registration of Canada, Typed transcript of registration of James J. Condon, received March 1989. James J. Condon, 67, born 22 June 1873, married supporting wife and 7 children under 16. Born Liverpool England, both parents born Wexford Ireland. British subject by birth immigrated 1884, of Irish origin. Speaks English only, primary education only. Fair health. Working on own account not employing labour as shoemaker. 47 yrs shoemaker in present occupation, 49 years experience as shoemaker. Can also do harness work. Can handle a horse, unable to do other farm work. no previous military service, never rejected for military service.
. Indication that both parents were born in County Wexford may have been based on the information he received in 1928 from the priest of St. Peter's Seel street, who mentioned that there had been some Condons from County Wexford in the neighborhood. Research has established that his mother was born in Liverpool, a fact of which he was obviously unaware.

51 Theory and/or comments of compiler Eileen Maloney Condon, 67 Marquis Crescent, Regina, Saskatchewan, 1) Ulster Family Research Services: search undertaken in November 1986. Report of John McCabe, Director, found no marriage record in their Family Register. He also searched the Flax Seed Premium records and Griffiths Valuations; several references were found for RODGERS and LAVERY individuals. 2) RC archdiocèse of Armagh: search undertaken in September 1990. Researcher Eileen Vallely found no marriage record, no birth record for either Owen or Catherine or their son John. She did find an "Owen Rodgers" born 21 March 1798 in Ardee Parish, Co Louth, and a "Eugene Rogers" born 22 June 1786 in Drogheda Parish, Co Louth. I did considerable further research on the 1798 Owen, but found his marriage in 1847 in Ardee Church records. My Owen was known to be in Liverpool 1831-1851. 3) Query placed in "Irish Heritage Links" November 1990. No replies.
